Plan to provide cancer support centre with permanent building

by PANORAMA reporter
The Gibraltar Society for Cancer relief are seeking to replace their present prefabricated building by a new permanent building to house the Lady Williams Cancer Support Centre.

The commitee is currently in correspondence with the government about the need to replace the centre. The government have indicated that they would be pleased to work with the society in fulfilling this need "and we are hopeful that the government will use its good auspices to assist us in providing a permanenet bulding," said chairperson Marisa Desoiza.

The Society would also like to see the appointment of a palliative care doctor who specialises in symptom control, as well as an on-call night nursing service that families can call outside normal working hours for support and advice.

The Society says it is hopeful that the health authority will develop these services in the not too distant future.

The Society does great work and deserve any support they can get. They are always on the lookout for more volunteers and financial support.

There are many generous individuals and groups that go out of their way week after week to raise money for the Society's work, and this is much appreciated.
