Straw to be questioned in Parliament about Gib's referendum

The UK government is being asked in Parliament about the planned referendum in Gibraltar on the constitution issue.

The question comes from Andrew Rosindell, MP, who is always ready to support Gibraltar.

His question will ask the foreign secretary Jack Straw whether he will consider the result of the forthcoming referendum in Gibraltar to approve the new constitution as an act of self-determination for the purposes of UK government policy on Gibraltar.

I he change in beret by the Royal Gibraltar Regiment has a clear meaning about the future: That the regiment is an infantry regiment.

The beginnings of the regiment was artillery linked, which explains why the regiment has always worn a dark blue beret, marking its artillery roots.

But when the Governor gave the order at a parade on Saturday to 'change beret', the colour went khaki.

In fact the regiment has adopted its new khaki beret, a new bronze coloured cap badge and a red and grey patch behind the badge.

"The khaki beret is the standard for British infantry regiments," said a spokesman.
