Off to Malta

A delegation from the Gibraltar Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association will be attending the 37lh Regional Conference of the British Islands and Mediterranean Region being held in Malta from 24th to 28th April,
The Conference will be officially opened by Anton Tabone, Speaker of the House in the Tapestry Chamber, at the Grandmaster's Palace, Valleta.
The main subjects which will be discussed in the Conference include:
The positive outcome from CHOGM in the trade area balanced against the disappointment from the Hong Kong talks;
Peace and security in Europe is intrinsically linked to peace and security in the Mediterranean;
Ocean Management and Sustainable Development; The role of national Parliaments in international relations;
The Commonwealth/European Union Connection; common challenges, great opportunities;
Illegal migration - a shared responsibility.
The Gibraltar Branch will be represented by Haresh K Budhrani Speaker of the House, Dr Bernard A Linares, Minister for Education, Training, Civic and Consumer Affairs, Joseph J Bossano, Leader of the Opposition and Opposition Member Charles A Bruzon. The Honorary Secretary of the Branch Mr Dennis Reyes will accompany the delegation.
