Non-EU nationals get union backing

Over 1000 delegates at Unite the Union 2nd policy conference have supported the local área executive motion on rights for non E.U nationals in Gibraltar, says the union here.
Bouchra Zemmouri presented the Gibraltar motion, making a contribution that obtained an impressive ovation from those delegates present at the conference. Bouchra also told her story of how a system of denial basic human rights affected her as a young mother some years ago.
The local área committe of Unite the Union says it is "pleased that our Union in U.K will be throwing its weight on a fundamented issue of equality in Gibraltar."
Unite the Union also welcomes the statement of the CM of Gibraltar at the 2nd Policy Conference in support of rigts of non E.U nationals in Gibraltar and in particular to the recognition of rights for Moroccan workers.
GIBRALTAR MOROCCAN WORKERS MOTION
Conference applauds the work that has been conducted in recent years by Unite the Union in trying to end the unfair system of discrimination in Gibraltar against Non EC Nationals and Moroccan workers in particular.
Unite Gibraltar acknowledge that in the last year an improvement to the naturalization application process has taken place with the charge of Government.
This conference calls on the Executive Council to demand from the Gibraltar Government an end to other forms of discrimination arising from unequal treatment of Moroccan workers in their entitlement to certain Gibraltar Government benefits under local benefits schemes to facilitate acces to social housing and develop a scheme under wich long-term residents, once retired, can received subsidised medical care in their place of origin.
