Changes at health authority
|
The Government says it has commissioned a focused review of the progress made in implementing the changes to the Gibraltar Health Authority (GHA) recommended by the Gibraltar Health Care Development Team and approved in 2004. The review will be completed by early August 2012.
It will be undertaken by a small team formed of John Langan (Director) and Frank McGurrin (Principal Consultant) of Langan and Schroter Ltd and Joanna Smith (EMEIA Health Network Lead) of Ernst and Young LLP.
The recommendations from the original Programme were wide ranging, and designed to provide a healthcare system which both met the needs of the people of Gibraltar and was operationally efficient.
Minister for Health Dr John Cortes stated "I have asked the team to look specifically, but not exclusively, at progress made in implementing recommendations about the following:
The scheduling process including waiting list elimination
The discharge process
Clinical quality improvement processes
Hospital medical staffing
Performance management
Staff appraisal and training needs.
"The review's conclusions will assist me in making the changes and improvements in Gibraltar's health services to which the Government is committed."
The review team will be interviewing GHA managers and staff to obtain views and insights about progress with implementation as well as how the GHA has changed since the completion of the Gibraltar Healthcare Development Programme.
