Government delivers over 100 commitments in six months

The GSLP/Liberal Government has delivered over 100 electoral commitments in six months.
Many of these commitments were made in the manifesto and others were electoral pledges made before or during the General Election campaign.

There are a number of commitments that the Government has been able to deliver at a very fast pace because these simply involved honouring pledges given by the previous administration and where no funding or legislative action was required.
There are other commitments where resources were needed and where these had to be deployed within a short period of time. For example, a promise was made that a bus service would be commenced to Both Worlds before Christmas and the service was in place by then.

"There are other policies which will require legislative action. A Command Paper has just been published with a draft of the Employment (Public Interest Disclosure) Act, which is the law that will protect whistleblowers. We had pledged to legislate within 180 days of being elected. The legislative process has now commenced," they say.

And add: In the coming weeks, the first budget of a GSLP/Liberal Government will provide the funding for a number of other initiatives and projects listed in the manifesto.

The Government would like to reiterate that it is very grateful to the professional civil servants and members of the public administration who have assisted in the delivery of policy and looks forward to their continued cooperation and support in taking the Government’s dynamic and exciting programme forward in the years to come.

Commenting on the matter, the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia said: “It is important to recall that there are commitments contained in the GSLP/Liberal manifesto and elsewhere which have specific commencement or completion dates.

There are others that have no dates but which are targeted for completion within this term of office. The Government are very focused on the delivery of the manifesto and are very pleased with progress so far.”
