Gibraltar's waters are British, not Spanish, says Governor
|
The Governor Sir Adrian Johns says that Gibraltar's waters are British and not Spanish.
And while he thinks there must be a British presence in such waters, he reckons there's no question of coming to blows with the Spaniards.
The Governor makes the point that Britain and Spain are European allies, so 'there cannot be any question of our coming to physical blows about this.'
He sees it as a question of being there, demonstrating a presence, upholding our jurisdiction.
It is important the Navy is seen to be there, saying these are British waters, and not Spanish waters.
