Adolfo Canepa to be new Speaker

The Chief Minister has confirmed that he will be proposing the appointment of Mr Adolfo Canepa as Speaker at the end of Mr H K Budhrani's tenure in October.
The Chief Minister has consulted the Leader of the Opposition on this issue who has indicated that he will be supporting the motion when it is presented.
Mr Canepa has been Chief Minister of Gibraltar, Leader of the Opposition, Minister for Trade & Industry with the AACR and Mayor.
Mr Canepa was a teacher before leaving his profession to become a Minister in 1972. He is the Chairman of the Public Services Commission and of the Commission on Democratic and Political Reform.
