Gibraltar at UN seminar

The Government of Gibraltar will be represented at the annual seminar which is organised by the United Nations Special Committee on Decolonisation which this year takes place in Quito, Ecuador, from 30th May until 1st June.

Minister Joe Bossano and Chief Secretary Ernesto Gomez will make up the Gibraltar delegation. Mr Bossano is a long-standing participant in these seminars over the years. He has attended as Chief Minister and both Leader and Member of the Opposition, and will now continue to attend this time as a Minister of the Government.

The Seminar is expected to include participants from the Committee of 24, UN Member States, representatives of the Non-Self Governing Territories, administering powers, experts on the subject and non-governmental organisations.

It is expected that the Seminar will assess the past decade and focus on the objectives for the years ahead. This is the Third UN International Decade for the Eradication of Colonialism (2011-2020).
