Review of city fire brigade planned

Chief Fire Officer Steven Torrie, Chief Inspector of the Fire and Rescue Authorities and Head of the Scottish Fire and Advisory Unit yesterday made a preliminary visit to Gibraltar, to familiarise himself with Gibraltar and the City Fire Brigade, with a view of conducting a Fire Service review of the Brigade.

During his visit he met with the Minister for Civil Contingencies and Fire Service Steven Linares to discuss the review and later met with senior management of the
Brigade. It is envisaged that the formal review will commence in late April.
Mr Torrie joined the Lothian and Borders Fire Brigade in 1975, he worked his way up the ranks in various fire stations. He became Chief of Central Scotland Fire and
Rescue Services in 2006 – 2010 and subsequently appointed to his present post.

Chief Fire Officer Steven Torrie was awarded the Queen’s Fire Service Medal (QFSM) for distinguished Service in the 2005 New Years Honours list.
