Mixing sport with politics

*It emerged yesterday, that the president of the Spanish Football Federation Angel Villar mixed sport with politics at the time of Gibraltar's application to join FIFA. He said he wanted to fight for Spain's interests 'in silence' and that his political involvement should not become known.
But in an article yesterday in Spain, it was disclosed that the then Spanish foreign minister Moratinos wrote a letter in his own handwriting to Villar to personally thank him for his services to the country.
This confirms what has always been said in Gibraltar, that the Spanish Government mixes sport with politics when it comes to Gibraltar.
And what about those in Gibraltar who thought Moratinos was being friendly when he visited the Rock?!
