Defence Police holds its first
federation conference today

The Gibraltar Defence Police Federation will hold its first ever Federation Conference today in the Charles Hunt Room in the John Mackintosh Hall. The introduction of a Federation Conference is essentially the last piece of the puzzle to bring the GDP Federation in line with UK Police Federations and provides the opportunity for discussion and debate and the sharing of good practice.

‘A Conference such as this also provides us with a unique opportunity to be ambassadors in the wider policing arena,’ said Keith Howard, the Federation’s Chairman,

Along with the Chairman’s address, members of the local Federation will be addressed in the morning session by the Minister for Justice Gilbert Licudi, the MoD Gibraltar Command Secretary Mr Mike Smith and the GDP Chief Police Officer Supt Rob Allen. This will be followed by a closed session in the afternoon where members will be discussing GDP Federation business.

On Thursday evening the Conference will hold a reception at the GDP Club in Rooke, to which many local and UK dignitaries, including senior Police Federation representatives from other European countries and other local enforcement agencies have been invited.

The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, the Chairman of the GDP Federation Keith Howard and the GDP’s Chief Police Officer will address the reception together with Baroness Harris of Richmond who has taken time out of her busy schedule in the House of Lords in Westminster to attend the GDP Federation Conference Reception.
