Unite hold ‘fruitful’ meeting with Interserve Defence
|
Unite say that their meeting with Interserve Defence Ltd was held in Brighton, their delegation composed of Mike McCartney (National Officer), Christian Duo (Serco Convenor),David Chrome (MOD Convenor). Neil Dandy (Director International Projects) and Scott Hill (HR Director) were the two representatives of Interserve.
The meeting, says the union, was both cordial and fruitful and we exchanged views on the overall contract including the reduction of the footprint of the MOD Estate. We had the opportunity to put forward what the aspirations of our Union are in terms of job security and improvement of working conditions.
They add: "Prior to the meeting we were advised by DIO that we could not at this stage pass on to Interserve any documentation including collective agreements. However we did briefly go through the different agreements in place including the Global Agreements reached in 2007 which also includes Staffing and Secondment and Omnibus Agreements.
"On the question of sub-contract and third party work we are pleased to have put our views across and as a matter of importance they have confirmed to us that they do not have a supply chain as of yet.
"Furthermore we have agreed on an established framework of meetings and we have already set up a date for our next meeting.
"Finally we would like to point out that there is goodwill from both sides, therefore we concurred that a good working relation is both beneficial towards the delivering of the service to the MOD and the workforce."
