No-Direction going in right direction

No-Direction is a 4-piece Indie-Rock band from Gibraltar. The band has been gigging in Gibraltar and southern Spain since the beginning of 2005 placing emphasis on writing original songs.

Their debut EP ?This Way-That Way?, was recorded in the Barn Studios in April 2005. It comprises of a selection of 7 original songs written by their lead singer, Lois Homewood. She has been writing lyrics and music for around 18 months, and her varied selection of original material and popular cover songs has seen No Direction gain notoriety in the local music scene, with 3 songs hit the number one spot in the Gibraltar Live Music Charts. The Band also became the No.1 most played act on the International unsigned Mp3 site, www.songplanet.com, over the last week of July.

In July 2005 2 songs from this EP were entered into the coveted UK Songwriting contest. These were ?Twisted Love Song? and ?Psychotic Narcotics?. The former is a fast-paced alternative rock song who?s lyrics deal with love and relationships that go wrong. The Latter is based upon the effects of drug taking, and how it can ruin lives. These tracks can be downloaded, along with their lyrics in the ?Audio? section of No-Direction?s website: www.no-direction.com

Well over 4000 entries were received in 8 categories (including rock/indie, pop, instrumental and R&B), with 30% reaching the semi finals and only 7% reaching the finals itself. The Results were announced on Friday 5th August. The Track ?Psychotic Narcotics? received enough consideration to reach the semi-final stage, whilst the ?Twisted Love Song? reached the coveted Finals stage of the Indie / Rock Category. The band was confident of a good result, but the fact that both songs have received acclaim has been fantastic.

This contest is dedicated to promoting the art of songwriting and the discovery of new talent, and places emphasis on the lyrical content of submissions. It is supported by some of the most highly respected names in the music industry including the BRIT Trust (of the Brit awards fame), The World Music Foundation, The Guild of International Songwriters and Composers, Sound Control and American Songwriter magazine, to name a few.

Winners, Runners-up and Finalists receive press coverage nationally and internationally, with a large proportion of them gaining further successes in their careers.

No Direction say they wish to thank everyone who has supported them over the last year, without the support of friends and family this on-going journey would have been without reason.
