Calpe House refurbished - thanks to donations
|
Brand new beds have now been fitted in at Calpe House in London. The money was raised by the 'Variety Live' Show in March, produced by Stage One. Through ticket sales and numerous donations the show raised £8,500 for Calpe House and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.
Stage One director James Neish, who hosted the show with Miss World 2009 Kaiane Aldorino, said the money raised will make a big difference to the people needing treatment in the UK and who stay at Calpe House adding that "this donation will certainly make their stay more comfortable." He praised the work of the charity and said: "This is Gibraltar's home in London for sponsored patients and needs all the support we can give it. Judging by the response at Variety Live 2011 it has touched many people's lives and we are delighted to have been part of such a wonderful fundraising initiative."
All the new beds are now in place at Calpe House. Variety Live was supported by a selection of local talent who all gave free of their time, ensuring every single penny raised went to charity.
They would like to thank all the artists, crew, sponsors and the audience for making this huge improvement at Calpe House possible.
The house has recently also undergone other refurbishment thanks to donations from various individuals and companies.
