Unite claim receives Govt endorsement
|
Unite the Union says it has received the endorsement by the Gibraltar Government regarding our claim for the 2010/11 pay review for those Government employees who did not get any pay rise in 2010 as a result of the U.K freeze in pay.
The Government has agreed with Unite a 2.3% increase in basic rates, this affects Unite members and employees whose pay is linked to the U.K local authority pay analogues, i.e. fire-fighters, youth workers etc.
The union says it is pleased that "we have been able to achieve together with the Government a pay increase for our members. This will be paid retrospectively.
"As for the year 2011/12 a pay rise of 2.5% has been agreed for all Government employees."
They add that they "not only delivers for public sector employees," but has just finalised an agreement with the Chamber of Commerce, that gives sales assistants, warehouse workers, cashiers, staff in licensed non-residential (Bars and Restaurants) an increase of 7.8% over a 2 year period.
