What are the terms of reference for external inquiry into port fire?
|
Shadow Minister with responsibility for the Port Dr Joseph Garcia will ask Government to say what are the terms of reference of the external inquiry into the recent fire at the port. Dr Garcia has given notice of 94 questions for the Government to answer when Parliament meets for questions on Thursday.
Dr Garcia will also want to know how the company that is to conduct an external inquiry into the recent fire at the port was chosen and on whose recommendation this was done. He will ask who was present in the command centre at the port during the recent fire in the waste oil recycling plant in the North Mole.
Dr Garcia will also probe the reason why the Gibraltar Port Authority administration offices were closed in the afternoon of Friday 13th May and what notice was given to port operators of this closure.
NEW AIR TERMINAL
In his capacity as Shadow Minister with responsibility for Civil Aviation, Dr Garcia will ask Government to say how much is due or has been paid to Obrist Interiors for the fitting out and refurbishment of the commercial units at the new air terminal. He will seek confirmation of the number of units that the firm was responsible for fitting-out and will ask for details of the allocation of the remaining three vacant commercial units that were put out to tender earlier this year. Dr Garcia will also want to know details of the successful tenderers for all the commercial units in the new air terminal building.
COST OF LONDON DIRECTOR
The Liberal Leader has also tabled a number of questions on the new arrangements for the Gibraltar Office in London. He will ask Government to say whether the new director of the Gibraltar office in London is allocated residential accommodation as part of his employment package, and if so what has been the cost of this accommodation on a monthly basis since the changes that were made to the post earlier this year. He will want Government to say by which Gibraltar Government owned company the seven employees working at Gibraltar House are being employed. Dr Garcia will also ask for a list of the offices or job titles of each of the employees and the total monthly salary bill.
Dr Garcia will ask Government to say whether they have any plans to secure the Northern Defences following reports of vandalism carried out by persons who obtained access to the area. He will seek to establish whether Consulnima SL, which has a registered address in Madrid, is a Government contractor and if so what is the nature of the work it is expected to undertake, at what location and at what cost.
UPPER ROCK AUTHORITY
He will ask whether Government intend to create the Upper Rock Authority before the Upper Rock Holistic Management Plan has been completed. He will also probe whether the sound and light experience at St Michael’s Cave is fully operational, and if so as from what date. He will once again press the Government to say whether Andalus airlines have now paid the sum owing in respect of passenger tax and landing charges.
The Liberal Leader has tabled further questions on EU directives, post-boxing arrangements between Gibraltar the UK and Spain, the gaming industry and development aid.
