Air arrivals down
|
Last year was a bad year for air arrivals in Gibraltar, with only 151,000 seats used compared with nearly 184,000 the previous two years.
In fact, not since 2003 have arrivals been so low. This refers to scheduled flights but even when you add charter flights, figures remain in the doldrums - as charters to Gibraltar have never been anything to shout about since 1987 and 1988 when fairly substantial usage of Gibraltar took place.
Given the lowly figures at present, it is fair to ask if we can realistically expect sharp increases or the justification to put on more flights!
It is noted that while flights from Heathrow recommenced in October 2009, those from Gatwick were reduced from 13 to 7 a week from the same month and year.
