Male supremacy in numbers game
|
Men have been edging to supremacy when it comes to the number of males and females in Gibraltar's population.
The 2001 census showed there were more females than male - but the trend has since been reversed, according to figures from the statistics office.
However, the difference is marginal, with 14,426 males against 14,333 females in 2004, the year for which the latest statistics Are known.
The 1961 census showed 2,000 more women than men, but males led the way in the 1970, 1981 and 1991 census.
The reversal in the trend came in the 2001 census. And it has been maintained since then in the yearly population count.
