Spanish play in May

The Gibraltar Amateur Drama Association (GADA) says that arrangements are well in hand for the staging of a Spanish play in May of next year. The play will be presented by a professional drama company from the Teatro Benavente in Madrid and, it is expected, will form part of the Ministry of Culture’s Spring Festival in 2011.
As there has been a lack of plays in the Spanish language performed locally in the recent past, GADA feels that bringing a professional company to stage such a play will be a good way of re-launching interest this somewhat neglected area.
A meeting between GADA and representatives of the Teatro Benevente took place in Gibraltar two weeks ago. During their visit leading members of the Teatro Benavente were shown both the Ince’s Hall and John Mackintosh Hall theatres and also met with Minister for Culture Edwin Reyes.
GADA says it would like to thank the Ministry of Culture for their support in this exciting venture.
