Dr Kimberly Brown, from the Gibraltar Museum, will be giving the next lecture in the Gibraltar Museum series on Tuesday, entitled: “The Last 80 Years, as recorded by the Gibraltar Museum.”
The Gibraltar Museum officially opened its doors on the 23rd July 1930, and has since then, like the Gibraltarian public, witnessed significant changes and historical events, which have helped shape both the Gibraltarian people, and of course its Museum.
In this lecture, Dr Brown hopes to take its listeners on a trip down memory lane, highlighting some of the more significant historical and social events which took place in and around Gibraltar in the last 80 years, and which remain fresh in the minds of many. From the turbulent War Years and the Franco era, to the joyous Theatre Royal productions and street parties, right up to the internet age, social networking and the changing world, says the museum.
The lecture will take place at the John Mackintosh Hall, commencing at 2030 hours.
All lectures are open to the public and are free of charge.
