Customs in mass resignation from union

Customs officers say they have resigned en masse from the Unite union, previously the TGWU. They marched to union headquarters yesterday morning to hand in their resignations.

A total of 69 Customs Officers have done so "as they vehemently feel there is a total disunion within the Union when it comes to defending the interests and legitimate rights of its members," said a statement.

The statement added: The members concerned are dissatisfied with the lack of support shown to them by the Union on a wide range of issues over the past 10 years.

The officers are said to be poised to join another union.
