7,630.48km event raises 1,505 for Haiti

Fundraising efforts for the Haiti Earthquake Appeal have been taking place at the King's Bastion Leisure Centre since January.

These have included an initiative from Staff Members of the Gibraltar Sports and Leisure Authority (GSLA), joined by many Gym members, to complete 7,630.48km (equivalent to the distance from Gibraltar to Haiti) on the Fitness Gym's cardiovascular machines. Leisure Centre Operators also joined the efforts to raise money by donating funds from ticket sales and entrance fees from different activities on specific fund-raising days.

The organisers say that they are delighted to announce that the last few kilometres on the Gym's cardiovascular machines are about to be completed.

In conjunction with this, Edwin Reyes, the Minister for Sport and Leisure presented a cheque for 1,505 to Red Cross Gibraltar Branch representative Mr Charles Montegriffo at the Leisure Centre.

The organiser thank all operators and the general public for their cooperation in fundraising for this very worthy cause. A special mention goes to the Fitness Gym staff and all those who participated in the 7,630.48km event.
