Two men arrested on suspicion of false accounting

Several search warrants have been executed by police at various private and business premises.

Two men aged 46 and 47 years have been arrested. Names have not been given.

In a brief statement last night, the RGP said: "As a result of a Royal Gibraltar Police Financial Crime Unit investigation, detectives have today executed several search warrants at various private and business premises.

"Two men aged 46 and 47 years have been arrested on suspicion of false accounting and are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

"The investigation is ongoing and police are working closely with the Financial Services Commission."

There have been rumours and unconfirmed reports throughout the day.

LICENCES

On Monday the Financial Services Commission said that there had been an investigation into the affairs of a number of licensed entities and persons, which in the opinion of the Commission have disclosed serious and persistent breaches of Gibraltar's financial services legislation.

A total of 7 Financial Services licences of entities were cancelled an also two licences concerning Benjamin Marrache and Solomon Marrache.
