Forum - and a change of Government in Gibraltar and/or Spain
|
The Chief Minister is concerned that a change of Government in Gibraltar or Spain, or in both places, could affect the future of the trilateral forum.
He wants to consolidate the Forum so that its future does not depend in a change of government.
He would feel happier if the Opposition in either place would commit themselves with the principle of the existence of the Forum, he told Spanish press.
After speaking of the prospect of new deals being signed when the ministerial meeting takes place in July,he said that the passage of time could create a climate that could facilitate, or make possible, that future generations of Spaniards and Gibraltarians could develop a different sentiment to the solution of the dispute ('contencioso').
He went on to say that there can be solutions to the problem, but always while the opinion of the people of Gibraltar is respected, thus rejecting any notion that a solution can be imposed.
