Care Agency, Unite and annual leave
|
The Care Agency says it welcomes the fact that Unite the Union acknowledges the efforts of Management in seeking to improve the service to our service-users at the St Bernadette Occupational Therapy Centre.
Whilst the Agency understands the natural concern of its members, in so far as affecting their privileged 13 weeks annual leave, the Agency is seeking no more
than to have its staff work their contractual annual leave entitlement of 20-25 working days depending on years of service.
The Union and its members need to realise that the operational needs of the Education department and those of the occupational therapy centre are distinct and
fulfil different roles and objectives for different purposes.
The Care Agency’s aim is to provide a full year service to adult disabled persons and to enlarge the range of activities to be provided.
"We feel this is in the best interest of our service-users and their families. Having looked into this matter thoroughly, the Agency is certain that it is perfectly entitled to change its working arrangements within the St Bernadette Occupational Therapy Centre within the contracted conditions of its staff," it says.
The Agency adds it will continue committed to discuss with the Union its aims and objectives for improving services.
