Constable of the Year, and Support Staff Member of the Year

The Commissioner of Police Mr Louis Wink was very pleased to announce the recipients of Constable of the Year award and Support Staff member of the Year award, says the police.

The award for the Constable of the Year is actually called ‘The Gavin Clinton Award’ named after PC Gavin Clinton, a very popular officer in the service and the community who tragically sadly passed away as a result of a diving accident back in 1998 .

This award is presently annually to the police constable who has, during the preceding year, excelled in his/her duties and responsibilities beyond that expected of his/her position. Similarly, the contribution by support staff members of the RGP is highly regarded and valued by the organisation and an equivalent award is presented annually to the support staff member who excels in his/her post.

The recipient of the Gavin Clinton award for 2009 is PC 199 Danny Rodriguez who is currently serving in the Neighbourhood Policing Unit. PC Rodriguez works very closely with the youth and is also one the RGP’s school liaison officers.

The recipient of the Support Staff member of the year award for 2009 is Mr James Olivero who works in the Corporate Development section of the Support Division. His responsibilities involve research and development. He was a key figure in the RGP’s efforts to securing the Investors in People accreditation.

“We value the loyal efforts and contribution of all police officers and support staff members but it is appropriate to recognise the extra input that some particular officers and members of staff render and this is a formal and official way of recognising these efforts. I congratulate both PC Rodriguez and Mr Olivero for their hard work and commitment” said Commissioner Wink.
