Gibraltar's finance centre plummets to lowly 51st position in world list

Gibraltar's finance centre has descended to a lowly 51st position, having plumetted 18 spots. This is the finding in the latest Global Financial Centres Index.

Another british finance centre, Jersey, is 14th following close behind some major city financial centres such as Frankfurt, Sydney and Toronto. The rankings are led once again by London and New York.

The index, produced by the Z/Yen Group for the City of London, uses surveys of industry figures and existing rankings to rate 75 financial centres based on competitiveness and has been released twice a year since 2007.
