Stan James 5-a-side Corporate League
|
As the league has entered its final third of the season SG Hambros are clearly odds on favorite to retain the league title as they have already bitten their closest rivals home and away and are 12 points clear at the top with a game in hand.
The fight is on for second place, Port/Barclays have won eleven of their last thirteen matches only losing to Credit Suisse and the leaders. TSN have had a dip in form lately losing their last three games and letting Port/Barclays take second place, but Credit Suisse with a number of games in hand are clearly favorites to clinch second place at the end. At the bottom Stan James have won five of their last eight games to make an 8 point gap between themselves and the bottom three, Ladbrokes have also had an impressive run wining six of their last seven games only losing to the leaders which sees them up into six place. Ellul, William Hill and Finsbury have to start picking up points if they don't want to end their seasons at the bottom of the league and with a possible 2nd division being setup next season everyone wants to play in the Premier division.
The second most important trophy of the league the Golden Boot (leagues top goal scorer) is also starting to have a shortlist of candidates, with Port/Barclay's Aaron Hamond being the most inform striker of the league having a fourteen goal advantage over his nearest rival Tristan Cano.
To end the league would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Mr Gareth Latin on his appointment at the GFA and would if possible like to arrange a meeting with him to find a way were next season we can bring our successful and well establish league, that is in its second season, has sponsors, its own website and is looking to introduce a second division back to Gibraltar were it belongs.
