Graffiti equals vandalism
|
Graffiti is always an eyesore, detestable in the extreme and a practice which should not be encouraged let alone tolerated.
When this "artistic perversion" is practiced on Government walls, buildings or wherever, it is very easy to suggest that the offending scribbling be erased immediately if not sooner, but when it is a private wall or building, that is defaced, how do we go about having the wall repainted, scrubbed or made clean by whichever process?
Such is the case with the wall in the corner of Castle Street and New Passage. Whoever is the culprit has really gone overboard and defaced the wall to extreme. There is hardly an inch without graffiti which perhaps mistakenly but due to nationalistic insignias and names would lead one to assume as to the nationality of the "artist" who is unquestionably very proud of the fact that he too can boast of very low IQ and infantile mentality! If not, how can any normal person of average intelligence delight in producing such an eyesore?
Pity that there is no CCTV available which could have shown the vandal at work and used to make he or she paint the wall at own expense!
And while on the question of graffiti and eyesores etc. I should again point out where our city walls have been vandalised, or is perhaps "desecrated" a better word?
I have once or twice advised the authorities that the city wall more or less under the Catholic Community Centre, opposite where the Naval Canteen used to be, some other depraved artist has seen fit to leave a mark of his expertise. Could we have this removed ASAP please, it should not take long to have the wall washed down or scraped!
Another area where this time our budding vandals have chosen another colour for their handiwork and have red graffiti scribbled, is at Wellington Front, above and further south where GBC used to be years ago. It is very visible when travelling by bus as line of sight is considerably higher up from the road level.
Maybe this time whoever is in charge of general cleaning up will read my comments and have the two places restored!
