Petition handed over

The Gibraltar Local Disability Movement will be handed over its petition for a public enquiry into the allegations made, to the Governor yesterday.
The Petition says that the undersigned were seriously concerned about recently published allegations relating to the events at the Dr Giraldi Home and to other claims of abuses and mismanagement within the Social Services Agency between 2000 and 2005. "We are particularly disturbed by the fact that despite calls for an independent investigation of these allegations from a number of different sources the Government has so far refused to investigate them, creating the perception of appearing determined to cover up the allegations," the petition goes on, and then requests action, as fully published yesterday.
