Authority 'gratified' with just over 1,000 response

In October 2008 the Police Authority launched a public consultation survey which ended on 19 December 2008. A questionnaire was sent to every householder in Gibraltar and copies were also handed out by members of the Authority outside Parliament House in October and at Casemates Square in December.

The questionnaire was therefore widely circulated throughout Gibraltar. A total of 1,166 persons submitted a completed questionnaire.

In addition and as part of the consultation exercise the Authority wrote to a number of representative bodies and tenants? associations seeking their views. Members of the Authority also visited both comprehensive schools and the College of Further Education to obtain the views of young people.

? We are indeed gratified with the response from the community which have trebled those of the 2007 survey. This high level of response clearly shows that the members of our community wish to have a say on how Gibraltar should be policed. The Authority will now take account of the views expressed by the community in the preparation of the 2009/2010 policing plan for Gibraltar,? said the GPA chairman.
