Super salaries for Supermen

The remuneration of the Chief Minister is now close to ?100,000 per annum.

All members of the Parliament receive ?26,042 per annum. In addition, some members receive a further salary.

Thus, the Chief Minister receives ?26,042 plus an additional ?71,179, which makes it a total of ?97,221 per annum.

Mr Caruana told Parliament: "I think the Chief Minister's salary represents excellent value for money for the taxpayers of Gibraltar."

Ministers are now earning in excess of ?74,000. To their member's salary of ?26,042 is added a ministerial allowance of ?48,399, which puts ministers at ?74,441 per annum.

The Leader of the Opposition also receives an extra of ?17,794, which added to his member's salary of ?26,042 puts him at ?43,836 per annum.

The other member of Parliament to receive an additional salary, of ?12,102, to his member's salary of ?26,042, is The Speaker, which makes his remuneration a total of ?38,744 per annum..
