Gibraltar in European Blackball championships

This year Gibraltar will be competing in the European Blackball Championships which will be held in Selsey, England. This annual event has previously been held in Germany, France & England.
Gibraltar will be represented by two teams this year; a Ladies and Mens Team. In the past Gibraltar has also been represented in the Senior Section of this competition, unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances this has not been possible this year. The competition will be running from Tuesday 30th September until Saturday 4th October.
The Ladies Team consists of Val Trotter(captain), Sarah De La Rosa, Vickie Heggie, Debbie Cunningham and Nicky Correa. The ladies have performed well in the past and expectations are once again high for them to do well. The team has trained extensively in preparation for the event. The ladies will face teams from N.Ireland, England, Wales and France.
The Men?s Team consists of Charlie Bear (captain), Gareth Lopez, Sean Rumbado, Jotham Olivero and Andy Giles. The level of competition this year will be much tougher as many of the lower ranked nations have pulled out from the event. The men, however, are still hopeful and aren?t short of training and preparation either. They will be facing teams from Eire, Northern Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales and France.
