Passing out parade for seven new members of regiment

On a windy day in North Yorkshire, seven new members of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment completed their recruit training course with a Passing Out parade watched by families and friends.

The demanding six month Combat Infantryman?s Course has given these soldiers the values and skills they will need to operate as members of a rifle section in Gibraltar and abroad.

At the Passing Out parade, which was inspected by Major General Nick Cottam, the Military Secretary, the Regiment was represented by its Honorary Colonel, Lieutenant Colonel Eddie Guerrero, WO2 Winston Payas and Sergeant Steven Wood.

?All our soldiers have had to go through this so we can all understand the strength of character they?ve needed to pull through.? said WO2 Payas, the Regiment?s recruiting Sergeant Major. ?I had to congratulate the recruits on standing steady throughout the parade, in spite of the near-hurricane that was blowing and I assured them that the weather would be better for Queen?s Birthday Parade back home!?

The recruits now go on to two weeks? well-earned leave before joining G and I Companies as they train towards a large exercise in March.
