Will Spanish Prince open the Instituto Cervantes in Gibraltar?

High-ups of the Instituto Cervantes met in Cordoba yesterday for a session which was presided by the Spanish Prince Felipe, who gave the Institute the support of the Spanish Crown.

The Prince was accompanied by the minister of culture Casar Antonio Molina, who until recently was the Director-General of the institution.

The Prince has been giving great support to this Institution and has opened all the new Cervantes centres that have opened since the year 2002, said Spanish reports.

That being the case it is being asked if the Prince would be coming to Gibrltar if an Instituto Cervantes is opened here.

Be that as it may, also attending a meeting of the Instituto yesterday was the Spanish foreign minister Miguel Angel Moratinos.

Opening yesterday's session in Cordoba, the new Director-General for the Institute Carmen Caffarel, who used to be the director-general of the State-owned Television 'Television espanola', said that the Instituto Cervantes was 'the best embassy" that Spain has, as it is an institution recognised in the whole world for its cultural and linguistic activities, and which also unites all speakers of the Spanish (Castellano) language.
