Cathedral tells worshippers not to leave their bags unattended - even when they go for Communion!

Worshippers in the Cathedral of St Mary the Crowned are being told not to leave their bags unattended - even when they go for Holy Communion.

A PANORAMA reporter spotted that the Cathedral has put up two signs to this effect, drawing the attention of people who call at the Cathedral.

This warning has been necessary as a result of what is described by the Cathedral authorities as 'petty thieving.'

The notice is in English and Spanish and is headed 'SAD NOTICE'.

It reflects just how common and widespread acts of thieving are in Gibraltar these days, when even a place of worship is affected.

It is indeed a sad reflection of the sign of our times that a Notice should go up which says: Take your bag with you when you go for Holy Communion!
