GFSB and La Linea to hold business forum

The Gibraltar Federation of Small Businesses have been discussing with the La Linea municipality the possibilities of doing business across the border and in turn the equal opportunities for reciprocity.

The outcome is going to be a Joint Business Forum being held at the Palacio de Congreso in La Linea on Friday 27th April commencing at 1030 am.

The Vice Chairman of the Federation, Charles Sacarello, stated ?we cannot remain isolated whilst our neighbours expand on the back of Gibraltar and after several meetings it was realised that by discussing future opportunities it would be possible to soften attitudes which could result in benefits for all entrepreneurs. There is no doubt that cross border business with expanded market potential is the way forward. There are no real restrictions on setting up a company in Spain by people from Gibraltar in the same way as there are none for people from Spain setting up in Gibraltar. There are of course minor difficulties due to different administration procedures but with a good will attitude these become irrelevant and are easily dealt with.?

The Forum, organised jointly by the GFSB and the Ayuntamiento de La Linea, will commence at 1030 with the usual openings by both parties followed by a short resume from both a Gibraltar lawyer and a Spanish lawyer setting out the methods of incorporating companies in each jurisdiction and the practicalities of day to day running. This will be followed by tapas and drinks with a round table discussion with like minded businessmen (and women) to gauge the future potential of doing business together. The Forum will be conducted in both languages with simultaneous transalation.

*All are welcome to attend but numbers are limited and to assist with the organisation please confirm your interest by contacting the Secretary at GFSB on 47722 or e mail gfsb@gfsb.gi before close of business on Wednesday 25th.
