940 dogs with their owners in Gibraltar this weekend

The Gibraltar Kennel Club is organising its 22nd & 23rd International Dog shows on Saturday and Sunday.

Gibraltar is probably the most successful show in the peninsula which has grown from strength to strength. It attracts a wide spectrum of countries and numerous entries.

Dogs have entered from all corners of Europe and beyond as there a dogs travelling from; Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Holland, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom.

A total of 129 breeds shall be represented with the Bulldog dominating the entries and a new record entry for the Gibraltar Kennel Club of 43 Bulldogs entered.

Other popular breeds this year are: Afghan Hounds Chihuahuas, French Bulldogs, Yorkshire Terriers, Miniature Schnauzers, Golden Retriever, Boxers and Dachshunds.

All 940 dogs will be competing on both days with a panel of 12 International judges from; Argentina, Belgium, England, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Sweden, and Norway having the difficult task of judging all dogs and finally choosing a Best In Show on both days.

The shows will be hosted at the Tercentenary Sports Hall with finals commencing at approx 4.30 pm on both days. Entrance is free, however dogs will not be allowed in the Tercentenary Sports Hall other than to compete. - LAWRENCE LLAMAS.
