Is the Govt going to implement 'white-wash- provisions into our company's legislation?
Shadow Minister for Financial Services, the Environment and Employment Fabian Picardo has tabled a question in Parliament to find out the cost of all travel by the Chief Minister, with a breakdown of the expenses incurred. This will be asked in the meeting that starts on Monday.
Mr Picardo will also question the Government on a number of legal issues. He wants to know what is the period that the courts have had to wait for the preparation of welfare reports from the date that the preparation of such a report was ordered by the court. He also wants to know the number of such reports and will request a breakdown between Magistrates and Supreme Court matters.
On the same issue, the Opposition spokesman will ask the Government how many pre-sentence and child welfare reports have been prepared in each month since the end of October 2006 by Social Services for hearings in both the Magistrates and the Supreme Courts. Mr Picardo will quiz Government for a breakdown of the amounts paid so far in this financial year to each law firm (or Barrister) in respect of civil legal assistance and legal aid, with a breakdown by firm and showing what are legal fees and what are disbursements.
In relation to sentencing plans, Mr Picardo will ask the Government to say what plans they have in hand to ensure that children of school age, who are convicted of criminal offences and sentenced to extended periods of imprisonment, are subjected to a regime which is designed to try and avoid them reoffending again in the future.
In his capacity as Shadow Minister for the Environment, Mr Picardo will want to know what levels of hydrogen sulphate have been detected by the Bunkering Superintendent in each of the spot checks he has carried out. He will also ask the Government whether their consideration of the consultant?s report into the noise insulation of OESCO has now resulted in a decision on what action Government will take to deal with the issue of noise pollution.
In his capacity as Shadow Minister for Financial Services, Mr Picardo will question the Government on a wide range of issues which include banking, insurance, and category 2, 3 and 4 status. He will ask the Government whether they have now taken a policy decision on whether or not to implement ?white-wash? provisions into our Companies legislation.
How many passengers from Madrid flights have stayed in Gibraltar?
Shadow Minister for Trade and Industry Dr Joseph Garcia will ask the Government in Parliament on Monday whether they gave permission for the clearance of the site at the base of the Talus slope north of Catalan Bay to make way for the location of a concrete plant in the area. This is one of a number of questions on planning and development issues which Dr Garcia has tabled.
He will ask the Government to provide the total legal costs in relation to the settlement reached with the owners of the Rosia Cottages, with a breakdown showing the legal costs of the DPC and the legal costs of the owners of the cottages.
The Opposition spokesman wants the Government to say whether the application for planning permission for the development in North Gorge has now been considered by the DPC and with what result. Dr Garcia will also ask whether the Gibraltar Heritage Trust has made any representations in relation to this project. He will also ask what the status is and the number of representations that have been received in relation to the proposed developments in Engineer Lane. Dr Garcia has also tabled a question to establish whether the Government are in negotiation with the prospective developers of two sites in Bayside Road in order to seek modifications to their original schemes.
Dr Garcia also wants the Government to confirm whether they have now completed their consideration of proposals put forward by a developer for the development of Rosia Bay.
On heritage issues, the Liberal Leader will ask at what stage in the legislative process is the new Heritage Act. He will also want Government to say whether the Victualling Yard has been included as a listed structure following a request from the Heritage Trust in September 2006 for this to happen.
Dr Garcia will ask a number of questions in relation to civil aviation matters. He wants the Government to say whether a new arrangement has been concluded with the Ministry of Defence in respect of landing charges for commercial aircraft. He will also want to know how many of the passengers who have flown to Gibraltar from Madrid were deemed to be in transit through Gibraltar, and how many stayed in Gibraltar.
In his capacity as Shadow Minister for Tourism, Dr Garcia will be asking questions about the new Gibraltar office in Madrid and Gibraltar?s participation in the World Travel Market and Fitur.
