Ceuta wants helicopter service with Gibraltar
|
Ceuta is angling for a helicopter service to be established with Gibraltar.
A PP senator was yesterday asking questions in the Spanish senate asking why this new service is not being allowed.
The possibility of a Ceuta link gained importance this week when it was officially stated that a Ceuta/Algeciras link would not be viable because the Gibraltar airport is not able to receive passengers from territories with special economic regimes as is the case of Ceuta, Melilla and the Canary islands.
The possibility of a helicopter service between Ceuta and Gibraltar did not form part of the Cordoba agreement.
The Spanish government delegate in Ceuta has meanwhile pointed out that passengers from Spain must be deemed to be 'domestic' and that if passengers from Ceuta were to fly to the Rock certain changes would have to take place which the Spanish government is against, that is, that the Ceuta passengers should use the Gibraltar terminal as citizens of a foreign country.
