Gibraltar flights will be affected by union dispute

Flights to Gibraltar on Thursday morning will be affected as a result of a dispute between Gibraltar unions and the UK ministry of defence, which runs the airport.
A British forces spokesman said that after clarification with the trade unions, the Royal Air Force will not be able to accept a number of incoming flights on Thursday.
The spokeman referred to proposed industrial action which will result in the unavoidable shutdown of essential utilities by defence workers.
The unions have organised a mass demonstration for Thursday morning to protest against a ?50 million defence contract going to a commercial bidder. The union had submitted an in-house bid which was rejected.
The demonstration has the support of political and other bodies. The Gibraltar Government is allowing its staff time off so that they can attend the demonstration, while schools will be closed.
