Model Search 2006 winner, Rachel Martinez, is busy with rehearsals, castings and public relations activities during the final rounds of Miss Bikini International 2006 which is currently being held in China.
Rachel spent the last few weeks developing a portfolio with photographers Lizanne Figueras, Mark Montovio and Charlene Figueras and has also been working on her runway presentation skills.
?Competition at these events is high,? said Mark Montovio. Many of these contests have a long history and continue evolving and just recently Miss Bikini International changed their entry conditions to steer away from the beauty pageant concept, focussing more on the qualities required by fashion models. This of course includes height restrictions and although this is often a particular issue for us we are delighted that Rachel meets all the requirements necessary. She is participating in an international contest for the first time and she is very excited about all the possibilities open to her.?
'I am having so much fun!' said Rachel from Xiamen. 'This is a great experience I am never likely to forget and the other girls are fantastic. I have made good friends very quickly and share my room with USA.
'We have just arrived at our new hotel and I am missing part of my luggage which hopefully should be arriving soon but I have learnt that these things happen and I have to be prepared and very resourceful.
'They have been working us very hard and today has been our first free day. I loved managing to fit in an hour for shopping! It is difficult with so many fashion shows everyday and out in the street is just amazing as people crowd and gather around us taking photographs and following our every move! I am really looking forward to the final.'
Miss Bikini International will take place in Hong Kong on 26th November with special visits to mainland China throughout the 20 days. ?We have not sent delegates to this contest before but feel that the quality of the organisation and the experience as a whole will be great. We have been working with the organisers, Exclusive Resources Ltd, based in Singapore, for the past ten years and we are always happy to send models to contests managed by their organisation,? said Mark Montovio.
