Queen's birthday flag flies today

To commemorate The Queen's 80th birthday a new flag has been commissioned which will be used in future at events to honour Her Majesty.

The design consists of a wreath of wild roses, thistles, daffodils and shamrocks which create a single seamless ring around the Royal Cypher which is at its centre. The primary colour of the flag is Royal Blue, chosen to denote loyalty, justice and as a supporting colour to the Union Jack.

The Queen's birthday will be celebrated in Gibraltar today Wednesday when the Birthday Flag will be flown from different locations including - at The Convent, No 6 Convent Place and at The Tower, HQBF.

No.6 Comvemt Place said later that the flag would also fly from the Moorish Castle.
