Montagu fire: Man charged

A 19 year old man has been charged with arson in connection with the fire at Montagu Gardens four months ago.
He appeared in the Magistrates Court yesterday and was bailed out until 15 November.
A statement from the RGP said that after intensive and extensive enquiries carried out by CID officers of the RGP into the arson at Montagu Gardens on the 26th April 2005, he was charged on Friday with one count of arson.
He appeared at the Magistrates Court yesterday and has been granted court bail in the sum of £2000 in his own recognizance until 15th November 2005.
"As a result of the fire a total of 16 vehicles and the underground garage were extensively damaged. The damage in question amounts to approximately £250,000," said the police statement.
