Spanish pensioners want families of pensioners who have passed away to be included in the pensions payout
|
With the news we published yesterday that the heirs of Spanish pensioners who have passed away, or their widows, are not included in the pensions payout being finalised in the tripartite forum, the La Linea association Alpeg has now come out saying that they are not satisfied at this situation.
They want families and widows to be included in the deal, and Alpeg will say so to Spanish negotiator Jose Pons when he visits La Linea tomorrow.
Alpeg says they would rather wait until full justice is done.
The association estimates that there are about 2,500 pensioners who have died and that over 20,000 persons are affected by this situation.
Widows get ?100 a month and cannot make a living out of such a payment, they say.
The association held a meeting last week where the non-payment to famlies etc was confirmed. Since then, many affected persons have been ringing them expressing disagreement over the situation.
At a meeting with the pensioners representative in Madrid recently, Sr Pons recommended that they accepted the agreement that is being worked out. It appeared after the Madrid meeting that the pensioners would be taking his advice.
Although there were high hopes at the meeting of pensioners last week that a solution was round the corner, and it was decided that there was no need for any public protests, the situation appears to have changed overnight, and Sr Pons will now have to face the music when he arrives at La Linea tomorrow.
